Mexico Vacaciones - Saturday - Departure
Saturday, February 3rd, 2007.
There’s nothing quite like the double whammy of writing down your departure time an hour too early and having your flight delayed by an hour (obviously being wrong in the other direction is worse, but that’s not what happened here and thus, irrelevant). So dear, reader, I write this last piece sitting at my gate in the wonderfully overcrowded Cancun International Airport.
Our last day en vacacione began quite similar to the first. A little sleeping in. A lotta breakfast. Time spent at the beach and/or pool (beach today). I read my book. I had a couple of caipiroskas (apparently by now all the bartenders recognized me as “the caipiroska guy” - although the lobby bartender instead thought of me as “senor mojito” - I can’t confirm these are the names they used, but I’m sure it’s something similar). We vacationed down to the last possible minute. Then, when there was no more vacationing to be done, we vacationed just a little bit more. And then we left.
