Very true.

At my work, we do these presentations every couple of weeks. You get 5 minutes to talk about whatever you want, anything in the world, and then we get 5 minutes to discuss the presentation. One of the other directors in my department did one on Experiences vs. Stuff, "ranking" the six of us on that continuum. I was placed at the extreme end of experiences. He, and another of the guys, were all the way on the other side.

His inspiration for creating that presentation was a conversation I had with the other guy who was "Stuff", on how the only thing that mattered to me was buying into experiences whereas he just collected trinkets. Traveling, and going off the beaten path, spending my money on food and liquor that are special in some way, doing things that aren't easily reproducible. Things that I would argue could never be reproduced. Those are the things that are dear to me, the memories, not the physical artifacts of them. The only physical artifacts I do treasure, are the things you hit on, the limited, unique, truly personal. And the sentimental.

I will add to your prediction the hybrid experience/product, where the physical artifact will be the result of something you go through, something you shape by experiencing and as a result, something that only you could possibly have.
