Good article Jeremy. I'll strive to utilize and develop for these technologies as they appear in the future.

I totally agree that the computer industry is still in its infancy and that many folks are blinded by what's happening now. Netbooks, IPhone's, E-Book Readers are all a rough draft of a device larger than the sum of its parts. I wish I could be caught up with all technological advancement but that's well beyond a full time job.

If only.. right? =] See you when we get there!

I just loved this article.

The world of gadgets lack innovation in design, features and performance, except maybe for Japanese products in my humble opinion.

Unfortunately, all they care about is money and money only.

I hate to see so many iPhone-like products out there. It kills me. It felt like a stab when I read "One Phone to Rule Them All". Hurts. But unfortunately, that's the truth.

As artist students, we are taught to always try out new ideas and most importantly, innovate.

Now if someone from these phone manufacturers money-eater would just open their eyes and read your article!

Cheers

Every now and then there alway some predictions of this kind. But looking back almost all of them failed since they were too eager to look for a killer silver-bullet like hardware breakthrough, and neglected the whole picture like market's readiness and evolution of people's needs. New advancement needs to build on existing foundation.

BTW, there is nothing as sucking the life out of real innovation. If iPhone were bad, it would be out. If someone needed to be blamed, I would suggest Nokia instead.

Uh, did you miss the point a little there "zato"? First, I'm an Apple guy. Second, I think it's pretty clear that the point I was making was that the iPhone is such a good product that it's caused the entire rest of the industry to play catchup, rather than innovate on new things themselves... But thanks for the kind words.

"I’m just ever-so-bored of the current state of gadget affairs. The iPhone has just sucked the life out of real innovation, and everyone’s playing a pretty boring game of catchup"
A-HOLE
More anti-Apple BS from the Microsoft propaganda operation.
