SMB/SOHO Resources for Useful Technology

A friend of mine is putting together a small company (SMB) and I was out looking for some helpful pointers to select some technology, and couldn’t find anything all that impressive. I then did the same type of search for people like myself (SOHO). Again, bupkus.

Anyway, as for routers, the netgears are indeed nice and I find easier to setup and configure than most. And by that, I mean get to some meaty configurations and implimentations, easier! That is the point, right.
But, one thing I find lacking in ALL routers these days, SOHO, home and maybe even ones for SMB would be the ability to offer some QOS services for network traffic, VOIP or other services. I think this is a must and should be included in at least the higher end versions of quality routers - but alas, it is not. Usually, this is only available as a hack, or a new OS load to a router on the market (not netgear versions unfortunatly) and I would never recommend an SMB to do anything like that with a primary router.

Forgot to mention… IF you have a small business (Action Pack - it includes almost every piece of software that MS makes and it’s a godsend if you’re an individual/smb that works in tech and needs software.
