Want to go to CES for FREE?

All you’ve got to do is blog.
Yes, that’s right. Netgear is having a “guest blogger” contest in which one lucky winner will get a nice little package consisting of…
- Free flight to (and from) Vegas
- Free hotel room
- $2000 in spending cash
Not to shabby, eh? Not only that, you get to (or have to, depending on how you look at it) be Netgear’s “resident blogger” for the show. Considering how much fun CES (the Consumer Electronics Show) is every year (and it is), this is a great opportunity! Click here for the official rules,
For more on CES, here’s the official site.
Ready to go? Enter the contest here. The contest ends December 15th (winners to be announced on the 20th).

Some thoughts from the folks at NETGEAR on this:
1. If we wanted the guest blog to be only about about NETGEAR, we would have written it ourselves.
2. There is a big, crazy CES out there. You have a unique perspective. You are there for everyone else who will never have the opportunity to experience the overwhelming, amazing, four day, 102 inch plasma adrenaline rush that is the Consumer Electronics Show. (http://www.engadget.com/2005/01/07/samsung-ces-the-worlds-largest-plasma-tv/).
3. All those amazing new gadgets at CES? We at NETGEAR live to network them all together and to the Internet. Wired, wirelessly, whatever it takes. And, no surprise, we believe that “connectivity” is as important a trend as “convergence.”
4. We don’t want to just hear about why NETGEAR products are so great (our customers already know that); we want you to help the world understand how all the pieces fit together into one giant connected life. Capice?
5. And of course, the fine print: any personal gambling debts that may be incurred in Las Vegas during the course of being “blogger-in-residence” are the sole liability of said blogger.

[...] Netgear is running a competition to send a guest blogger to CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Vegas. Unfortunately, they want their “resident blogger” to speak with a US accent, as it’s only open to bloggers from the continental US. Sigh. Too bad, that would have been a great gig; and I’d have been good at it too (oh yes I would). [...]

Considering it’s NetGear, the plane tickets wouldn’t be compatible with any pre-existing airline, when (if) you got there you’d find that the hotel wasn’t quite finished yet but the plastic walls kept out most of the elements, you could only buy NetGear products and services with the cash, and, as you left with this oddly dissatisfied feeling, a NetGeat PR Flack would try to tell you how much you must have misunderstood what you experienced.

What about a video/blogger/podcaster/video podcaster/netcaster/caterer?
And, by the way… I thought what happened in Vegas had to stay in Vegas?

The winner has to attend a company dinner. Social setting…probably no jeans allowed (what would one have to wear?)…table manners will have to be minded. There might even be small talk. This is kinda scary, but I have to try. They’d probably just look at my blog and tell me they can’t trust me to come up with three posts a day

Had you registered a few days ago, an exhibits pass would have been free. Yeah, I know that doesn’t help you now, but it might help you prepare for the 2008 event!
