Logitech® Cordless Desktop® S 530 Laser for Mac®

January 9th, 2006 by Jonas, Review Editor

“Designed specifically for your Mac, the Cordless Desktop S 530 Laser includes a comfortable ultra-flat keyboard and a high-performance laser mouse. The stylish white and silver design perfectly matches both consumer and pro Macs.”

I’m a solid PC guy, and truth be told, I’ve never owned anything from Apple. I must say though, I’m more than a little jealous the way that their accessories actually match their computers. I’m not sure when we all decided that Apple’s Macs and accessories owned the color white (and left PC’s with ugly beige), but they sure look sharp.
Great looks aside, this setup, which was announced at CES last week, sports the following features:
- dedicated buttons to control song playback in iTunes
- 6 month battery life
- battery level indicator
- two USB receivers (extended range desktop, and compact notebook)
- precision laser mouse
- two USB receivers (compact notebook & extended range desktop)
When I break down and buy something from Apple, expect a full test (or maybe hell will freeze over first). Anyway, it’s a lot of cutting edge tech for $100, if you’re into the Mac.

A bluetooth version of this keyboard set would sweeten the deal esp. since all new macs have inbuilt bluetooth available.

“… bluetooth version … would sweeten the deal …”

Blutooth would poop on the battery life and cut the 6 month claim to about 6 hours.

  4. Mark Says:

Truth be said It is good to see logitech making direct overtures to the Mac market, but I’m a metal mac man. So when will we get an aluminium keyboard mouse set?

  5. Seven Says:

Yeah I’m a metal man too, white is for fairies. But I would like to see the number palet separated like the diNovo but obviously mac compatable.

  6. Andrew Says:

This really need bluetooth. I’m a bit confused why it doesn’t have it, given all new macs have bt built in. I would buy it if it weren’t for that.

  7. konsti Says:

even a year has passed i think bluetooth isn’t that good i got a couple devices and all the time you have to, now and then, reconnect them, and that takes time i don’t want to spare.
