Smart Cabs

Two hundred cabs in San Francisco are equipped with a back seat driver. Computer screens will be fitted into the back of the cab for anybody to use for free. Visitors will be able to look up restaurants, site seeing destinations right when they leave the airport.

The back-seat devices are manufactured by The Interactive Taxi Co., with software developed by PeerDirect. The devices connect to a wireless network through Verizon's cellular service, and can maintain the perception of a steady-state connection even in "dead zones."
