ASIMO Means Foot In Japanese

Honda made a robot a while ago, which mimicked a human’s uncanny ability to walk and keep balance on only two feet. This robot was named ASIMO.

ASIMO has visited many classrooms and met many students, but this is the first time that ASIMO is part of the curriculum. That’s right, this isn’t some essay winning treat for students. An ASIMO appearance is now as predictable as next week’s spelling test (if you were a Japanese kid living in one of the two cities that hold the ASIMO robot in the local science museum. When I was in middle school we were able to take home the pet hamster for a weekend if we did all our homework, didn’t talk in class, and won a raffle for the week. Times are sure changing.
