Googling TV
There is a saying, "information is power". In light of google's current stock value, this might just be true. Well, the "big boys of search" - Microsoft, Google, and Yahoo - are all moving to increase their power base by providing search functionality for video. What does this mean, you may ask?
Imagine googling "so I've got that going for me, which is nice" and there, amidst your results, is the actual video clip from the movie where that quote comes from (sigh, click here if you don't know). The various companies are all taking different approaches, but effectively there are massive operations underway indexing ALL video.
ALL movies.
ALL dramas.
ALL documentaries
ALL sitcoms. Even "Coach".
It's an interesting premise, but I am not sure where the real consumer value proposition comes in. Then again, I am a bit of a self-proclaimed movie geek, so I'm sure I'll use it to find obscure movies quotes and references. I also know a handful of people who can't remember a movie name to save their life, and having this work in conjunction with Amazon could be a valuable sales tool.
