What to do with that old TV

There are over 400 million TV sets in the United States. There are about 110 million homes.
Americans buy roughly 200 million TV sets per year.

There are not enough basements, kids rooms, or garages to handle all those extra TVs.

Traditionally, when consumers purchase new TV sets, they tend to shift around existing TVs in their home. However, this year about 4 million flat-panel sets are expected to enter households, many of which are coming into homes with largescreen sets. As TVs have increased in size, they have increased in difficulty for the relocation process. Not too many people want a 33" set in their kitchen, apparently.

The problem, as this article points out, is that consumers are starting to dispose of more and more sets per year. This means more waste, and a lot of it. In 2006, it's 3500 tons of material!

And since you may be in the market for one, let's continue to be part of the problem. Buy a flat-panel TV from Amazon. :)
