VHS, we hardly new ye

I'd say I'm sad to see it go. But I'm not. I'm thrilled. DVD players outsell VCRs by a factor of 40 to 1, and with the exception of the lack of clock in my living room, I say good riddance. Over 70% of US households have DVD players today. Blockbuster reports that over 80% of its rentals are in DVD format (and by the way, shouldn't they have lowered prices since the cost of movies on DVDs is much lower than VCR tapes?).

Comfy? Good. You have about a year or two until HD-DVD (high definition) hits the market. Oh, and yes, there will be multiple formats to choose from, incompatibilities, and lots of confusion and frustration. And they say that Hollywood and the consumer electronics companies are heartless and don't care about consumers...
