New HDTV All-in-one Flat-panel PC from Hy-Tek

As the quest for moving PCs to the living room continues, most companies get it wrong. They build weird-looking boxes that appear to be close to a consumer electronics device, but is really a PC. Or they build something that looks like a funky PC, and expect it to seamlessly integrate into the living room. Hy-Tek is taking a solution I can appreciate - they are building the PC into the flat-panel. Clever, eh?

The company announced two models of the Tek Panel, the 300 and 370. Both feature 2.4GHz Pentium4 PCs, with 512MB RAM (starting), and 120GB hard drives. Not bad - I think it should have more of all of the above, but it's definitely a lot to play with.

The 300 (top picture) boasts a 30" WXGA display, Bose speakers, a DVD/CD-RW drive, and tons of inputs and outputs.

The 370 (bottom picture) has a 37" display, Klipsch speakers, a built-in DVR system, and a DVD burner. Not too shabby!

One more... minor point... They are both HDTV enabled, and both feature Windows XP Professional!

I haven't had the chance to play with a system yet, but it does sound promising. I do like the company's approach, and since the products are fully upgradeable, they seem to have an open-ended solution that can meet a lot of different people's needs.

In addition to the for-home market, I could see a lot of mileage in the office and promotional display arenas.
