High-def FM?
This article talks about yet another wave of technology that could be coming down the pipe (or antenna) in the next few years: HD Radio.
In my opinion, while I agree there is probably some market for these technologies, I think the service/radio providers and car stereo manufacturers have a very hard sell in front of them. Radio is free. In fact, it's been free for as long as we can remember. Furthermore, we are generally okay with radio commercials (still one of the most effective forms of advertising, btw) in the midst of our programming. I can't imagine mass adoption of a technology that requires a monthly fee for something consumers are inherently used to using for free.
